What's SlskNet?
A meeting point for the worldwide Soulseek Community...

Slsknet is the community of SoulSeek users. This page is devoted to the program which has offered the widest file-exchange system in the history of the internet.

SoulSeek is easy to use, free (although donations are welcome :), and specially spyware-free.

Why Soulseek is easy to use? Because you can manage to use it in efficiently in more or less half an hour. If you have tried the program, you know it. If not, follow our tutorial and you'll find how simple it is!

What means "spyware-free"? If you have downloaded any program which contains spyware, while that program is running, it is sending somebody some information about your internet navigation habits, such as pages frequently visited, topics searched through search engines, etc. The spyware contained by the popular programs is supposed not to send compromised information, like passwords or credit card numbers. Anyway, you could have downloaded a fake version of those programs... specially designed to betray your confidence. Every internet user should understand that this shitware is a permanent risk for our privacy and avoid using programs with that kind of unsolicited load. But... really unsolicited? Well... not really. Most of them include a warning about the presence of spyware within the program code, among the huge amount of blurry conditions which one has to accept before downloading. This is a list of other file exchanging programs which contain spyware: Kazaa (the free version), Bearshare (the free version), Imesh, Grokster, Xolox, FreeWire, Morpheus, etc... Fortunately, other ones such as Slsk are free of spyware.

Is Slsk really free? Well... it is, but the creator of the program deserves a certain compensation for his work, doesn't he? Some users make a donation and receive using privileges in exchange. The donations are measured in five dollar units. Anyway, you can use Slsk without ANY restriction totally free.
